FAMILY PROMISE

Beginning 30 years ago in Union County, New Jersey, Family Promise is now the leading nonprofit addressing the crisis of family homelessness with a network that extends across the United States. Their mission is to not only end, but also prevent homelessness for families and children and help them achieve sustainable independence through a community-based response. Family Promise is a national organization making a local impact, recognizing that these are complex issues that require comprehensive and innovative solutions.

Solving homelessness is not just about housing. Their holistic approach to the crisis of family homelessness includes four key areas of focus: prevention, shelter, stabilization, and housing.

LUTHERAN SOCIAL SERVICES

Lutheran Social Services of the National Capital Area (LSSNCA) is a human services and immigration relief and refugee welcome agency. They have accompanied those in need throughout Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. to foster resiliency, self-sufficiency, and access to opportunities. They provide services for those rebuilding their lives in the D.C. metro area.

LSSNCA’s innovative participant-informed programs serve refugees, forced migrants, immigrants, children and youth, and underserved communities by filling in the gaps. Piloting initiatives like the area’s first camp for kids impacted by the HIV/AIDS crisis, originating local pro se asylum workshops for Afghan Allies, launching a Resource Center to serve as a community hub for all recently arrived program participants, and offering myriad trauma-informed mental health support services, LSSNCA strives to create thriving communities.
